Sitting with “Splitting the Atom” once again

It’s easy. Don’t let it go. Don’t lose it.

These lyrics continue to invade my thoughts at random. How I perceive this is it’s saying that indeed it is easy to let it go and lose it. In short, to lose some important part of ourselves. Therefore aim to resist doing so. And that can’t help but take diligent effort, especially considering all that we’re up against at present. Modern dragons are every bit as ferocious as those of ancient legends, despite the different shapes they may be taking now.

It is easy to let go of what matters more. This concern strikes me regularly enough. Too easy to be lulled into an abyss that proves unworthwhile. A matter plenty of us continue to wrestle with.

Conjures up questions on why we’re motivated as we are. How much of it is worth striving to change and what is better off being accepted? It will divvy up differently depending on each individual. Can’t help but do so.

Full lyrics follow:

The baby was born
Nettles and Ferns
The evening it chokes
The candle it burns
This disguise covers
Bitter lies
Repeating the joke
The meaning it dies
Pass me a coat I’m not afraid to leave
I’m letting you know
I know what you need
I’ll turn you around
This beautiful town
And then you’ll believe it when your eyes then deceive you

It’s easy, don’t let it go
It’s easy, don’t let it go
It’s easy, don’t let it go
Don’t Lose It

Its getting colder outside
Your rented space
They shadow box and they
Paper chase
It never stops
And we’ll never learn
No hope without dope
The jobless return
The bankers have bailed
The mighty retreat
The pleasure it fails
At the end of the week
You take it or leave
Or what you receive
To what you receive
Is eternited leave

It’s easy, dont let it go
It’s easy, dont let it go
It’s easy, dont let it go
Don’t lose it

Incandescent light at doors
In adolescent menopause
In little clicks you got the music stops
The needle sticks and the penny drops
The summer’s gone before you know
The muffled drums of relentless flow
You’re looking at stars that give you Vertigo
The sun’s still burning and dust will blow
Honey-scars I’ll keep you near
Our blood is gold nothing to fear
We killed the time and I love you dear
A kiss of wine we’ll disappear
The last of the last particles
Divisible invisible
The last of the last particles
Divisible invisible

Haunting song that lingers on the imagination…if you let it.

Kizzume — “Out Of Time”

Really loved this song produced by an internet peep I’ve been following for a few years now. This tune blew me away. Probably on my 5th re-listening in a row now. The lyrics follow.

Always a newer age
Only this time it’s somewhat newer than the rest
It won’t be long
We’ll be getting out champagne

That’s just a dream we have
Only this time it’s much much stronger than the rest
We scrape along
On the bottom of the tide

Nothing is for certain when you’re out of time
Nothing is forgotten when you’re on the line

Always a bigger stage
Only this time it’s somewhat bigger than the rest
We’ll act it out
As if to try and inflate

It’s just the team we have
Only this time it has more corruption than the rest
They can’t be wrong
They have Orwell on their hands

Nothing will reduce you to an empty space
Nothing will seduce you when you make your case

Super impressed over here. Knew he liked to mess around with the keyboard and music but had no idea how gifted he was until now. Kinda jealous, as one who cannot sing worth a damn.  lol  Either way though, he killed this. Great job, dude!  clap

Your sex is on fire

Unfortunately I had to hear this song again today. The last one I could stand before leaving the bar this early evening, having stopped up for a few drinks after my gym appointment. Decided to upload it since it’s left its mark plainly enough on my psyche.

“One, two, three, they’re gonna run back to me. Always wanna come but they never wanna leave…”

I’m well-aware my last post was a bit disturbing. So try this one on for size.

Here’s a song my former companion played for me a couple weeks back that I’d never heard before, Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s”:

Now, envision the man who played this: 43 years of age, heavy drinker, tobacco chewer, muscular due to a labor-intensive job, not terribly tall but not short either, close-cropped blond hair, very pretty smile, likes to wear snug-fitting jeans and relatively tight t-shirts that flatter his physique. That was my man. And this is the song he’s been jamming out to lately in bars and wanted to share with me, his former girlfriend, while we were drinking and joking around at his place the night we broke my cold turkey vow.

Today I decided to re-listen to it after hearing it at the bar again last night. Hmmm. Paid attention to the lyrics this time.

Hmmm. “One, two, three, they’re gonna run back to me. Always wanna come but they never wanna leave…”

The full lyrics:

Well, I had me a boy, turned him into a man
I showed him all the things that he didn’t understand
Whoa, and then I let him go

Now, there’s one in California who’s been cursing my name
‘Cause I found me a better lover in the UK
Hey, hey, until I made my getaway

One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
‘Cause I’m the best baby that they never gotta keep
One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
They always wanna come, but they never wanna leave

Ex’s and the oh, oh, oh’s they haunt me
Like ghosts they want me to make ’em all
They won’t let go
Ex’s and oh’s

I had a summer lover down in New Orleans
Kept him warm in the winter, left him frozen in the spring
My, my, how the seasons go by

I get high, and I love to get low
So the hearts keep breaking, and the heads just roll
You know that’s how the story goes

One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
‘Cause I’m the best baby that they never gotta keep
One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
They always wanna come, but they never wanna leave

Ex’s and the oh, oh, oh’s they haunt me
Like ghosts they want me to make ’em all
They won’t let go

My ex’s and the oh, oh, oh’s they haunt me
Like ghosts they want me to make ’em all
They won’t let go
Ex’s and oh’s

One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
Coming over mountains and a-sailing over seas
One, two, three, they gonna run back to me
They always wanna come, but they never wanna leave

My ex’s and the oh, oh, oh’s they haunt me
Like ghosts they want me to make ’em all
They won’t let go

Ex’s and the oh, oh, oh’s they haunt me
Like ghosts they want me to make ’em all
They won’t let go
Ex’s and oh’s

Certainly recasts tonight’s dinner invitation in a new light, to say the least.
