“2017 Maps of Meaning 9: Patterns of Symbolic Representation” (Dr. Jordan Peterson)

Sitting with this lecture this morning:

“Thomas Sowell – The False Dichotomy of Race” (an excerpt from his book “Intellectuals and Race”)

Very interesting audiobook excerpt from Dr. Thomas Sowell’s book. Just finished his Black Rednecks and White Liberals and today began his Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy book. I do enjoy listening to that man’s perspective.

“Thomas Sowell on the many problems with intellectuals and experts”

Other authors I’ve read over time discuss this same issue, particularly when it comes to the so-called liberal intelligentsia entrenched in academe. They do exert a great deal of influence, that much is certain, whether their social theories ultimately prove benign or disastrous.

Walter Williams – “American Contempt for Liberty” (CSPAN2 BookTV interview)

Long interview but worth listening to. Hadn’t heard of Walter Williams prior to this week. Turns out he’s a friend of Thomas Sowell and shares his conservative (or classically liberal) political leanings.

“Cicero, On Friendship” (parts 1 & 2) by Dr. Sadler

“Intro to Philosophy: Cicero, On Friendship (part 1)”:

Part 2:

“Epictetus, What Is and What Isn’t in our Control” and more

More of Dr. Sadler’s stoicism lectures:

“Epictetus on The Faculty of Choice (Prohairesis)”:

“Epictetus On Making Progress Towards The Good”:

“Epictetus on Understanding and Addressing Anger”:

“Human Sexual Behavior III & Aggression I”

Rewatching portions of Dr. Robert Sapolsky’s lecture series on biology of behavioral evolution, today selecting episode 17 titled “Human Sexual Behavior III & Aggression I”:
