Tunes for August

Imagine Dragons – “Radioactive”:

That one my former companion introduced me to several months back. He’s yet to play a song for me that I didn’t wind up liking. Though that one has a strange video.

But I personally tend to attract more toward older tunes.

Loretta Lynn – “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)”:

“After the Fire is Gone” – Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn:

“I Miss Being Misses Tonight” – Loretta Lynn feat. Jack White:

Amazing that those two came together to create music. Also sad to hear her singing about losing her husband, Mooney (or Doo or Oliver, whichever you prefer to refer to him as). The word was that they had a tumultuous relationship in which he was known for cheating and drinking, but for whatever reason she stood by him and continued loving him. Love can be strange like that. And those two’s fights were legendary.

I love when the old titans cover newer songs and make them their own:

That was Johnny Cash performing Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.”

Johnny Cash – “The Mercy Seat”:
