Tunes of the moment (late July)

“The Logical Song” by Supertramp:

Always liked that one.

Here’s one I listen to regularly enough but never knew the title or the band that performed it before looking it up tonight, Red Rider’s “Lunatic Fringe”:

Lunatic fringe
I know you’re out there
You’re in hiding
And you hold your meetings

I can hear you coming
We know what you’re after
We’re wise to you this time
(wise to you this time)
We won’t let you kill the laughter

Lunatic fringe
In the twilight’s last gleaming
This is open season
But you won’t get too far

‘Cause you gotta blame someone
For your own confusion
But I’m on guard this time
(on guard to you this time)
Against your final solution

We can hear you coming
No you’re not going to win this time
(not gonna win)
We can hear the footsteps
(we can hear the pain)
Out along the walkway
(out along the walkway)

Lunatic fringe
We all know you’re out there
Can you feel the resistance?
Can you feel the thunder?

Amazing how I can listen to a song a million times and never truly make out the lyrics until I finally pause to look them up. Blame it on my faulty hearing and comprehension. And sometimes once you learn the lyrics it kinda taints a song, but certainly not in that one’s case. Great song!

Here’s one, Golden Earring’s “Twilight Zone”:

Where am I to go now that I’ve gone too far?

Another random blast from the past I hadn’t heard in a minute, “King of Pain” by The Police:

“Automatic Flowers” by Our Lady Peace:

That one has played in my regular rotation for many years. Never knew before today who sang it. Only began consciously tuning in to the lyrics very recently.

One of my favorites, “Swamp” by the Talking Heads:

That’s enough for now.
