Flipping through my music collection this evening and came across this little gem:
That was Ani DiFranco’s “Dilate.” It’s the only song by her I’ve really taken to. I remember the gal back during my freshman year (1999-2000) who introduced me to this song. My fiancee (future ex-husband) knew her and her boyfriend. Had some fun with those folks until it all ended with a stupid (physical) fight. We liked her, just turned out her boyfriend was a full-on abusive dick. I remember she’d had a rough go at life, odd circumstances. Interesting person — hard to forget.
But since I’ve opened with “dyke music,” I might as well offer one more (this completing my “dyke music” collection):
That was the Indigo Girls’ song “Closer to Fine.”
There’s more than one answer to these questions

The closer I am to fine.
Doesn’t matter one’s sexual orientation, that’s a beautiful damn song that points to truth. If the radio hadn’t worn it out (as it does with every ‘hit’), it would be more greatly appreciated, I do believe.
Switching gears, here’s my favorite performance by Pat Benatar singing “Heartbreaker”:
A live performance of Janis Joplin singing “Ball and Chain”:
Just came across an interesting video for a song I like titled “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + The Machine:
